COMPANY PROFILE
LiveRamp
Headquarters: San Francisco, United States · Founded: 2011 · Listed: NYSE: RAMP
What it does and how it makes money
A data collaboration software company that helps marketers and media owners unify, connect and activate customer data for advertising, including moving offline data online. In May 2026 it agreed to be acquired by Publicis Groupe for $38.50 per share (deal still pending as of August 2026).
About 76% of revenue comes from platform subscriptions, priced mainly on data volume; the rest comes from its data marketplace (a revenue share on data sellers' sales) and usage-based fees. [1]
What data it collects about you
Its services facilitate targeted advertising to browsers, devices and email addresses using cookies, mobile identifiers and IP addresses; it states that it uses sensitive data such as Social Security and driver's license numbers for identity resolution (linking data about the same person). [2]
How it turns your data into money
LiveRamp shows no ads: it sells brands, publishers and platforms the ability to recognize the same person everywhere. According to its 10-K, its technology ingests a customer's first-party data (for example its customer list), removes all directly identifying information and replaces it with a pseudonymized RampID; its identity graph associates device IDs and other online IDs with that RampID. Its own blog explains that RampID matches the emails, phone numbers, postal addresses, device IDs and authenticated logins that belong to one person, and that it is integrated across more than 500 partners (DSPs, SSPs, data providers and media networks). Example: if you gave your email to a sneaker store, that store can upload its list to LiveRamp, turn it into RampIDs and find you to show ads on connected TV, social or the open web, and then measure whether you bought. It earns money mainly from annual platform subscriptions (about 78% of revenue) and from its Data Marketplace, where it keeps a share of what third-party data sellers earn selling segments. [3]
