Android

Useful when you do not want to touch the router, or the router will not let you change the DNS. It works only for the home Wi-Fi. If the phone has Private DNS on (Settings › Network › Private DNS), turn it to “Off” or “Automatic”, or the phone resolves names on its own and GUARDIANA records it as “DNS evasion”; it does not cut it.

Steps

• In GUARDIANA's panel › “Home Mode”, note the PC's address (for example 192.168.1.39).
• Settings › Wi-Fi (or Connections › Wi-Fi) › press and hold your network › Modify (or tap the gear, then the pencil).
• Advanced options › IP settings: Static.
• Leave the address the phone already has and the gateway (usually 192.168.1.1).
• DNS 1: the PC's address. DNS 2: empty, or the router's address if you want a fallback for when the PC is off (GUARDIANA will not see those queries).
• Save. Turn the Wi-Fi off and on.
• Open the browser and go to http://comprobar.guardiana.hogar. If it loads, you are done.

What you should know

• Chrome and other apps can bring their own Secure DNS. In Chrome: menu › Settings › Privacy and security › Use secure DNS › turn it off, or GUARDIANA will not see Chrome's traffic.
• With a VPN active, nothing passes through GUARDIANA.
• It only changes that Wi-Fi network. Away from home, the phone uses its normal DNS.

Undoing it

Same screen › IP settings: DHCP. And if you turned it off, put Private DNS back the way it was. Do this before turning the guardian PC off for a long time.
