iPhone and iPad

Useful when you do not want to touch the router, or the router will not let you change the DNS. It works only for the home Wi-Fi: on mobile data, the iPhone does not go through GUARDIANA.

Steps

In GUARDIANA's panel › “Home Mode”, note the PC's address (for example 192.168.1.39).
On the iPhone: Settings › Wi-Fi › tap the (i) next to your home network.
Scroll down to Configure DNS › Manual.
Delete the servers listed (the red button) and tap Add Server.
Type the PC's address. If you want a fallback for when the PC is off, add the router's address below it (usually 192.168.1.1); GUARDIANA will not see those queries.
Save (top right).
Open Safari and go to http://comprobar.guardiana.hogar. If it loads “This device already goes through Guardiana”, you are done. If it does not load, turn the Wi-Fi off and on and try again.

What you should know

iCloud Private Relay (Settings › your name › iCloud › Private Relay) makes Safari resolve names on its own: those queries do not pass through GUARDIANA. GUARDIANA does not block it; it records it as “traffic out of sight” when it detects it.
With a VPN active, nothing passes through GUARDIANA either.
This change applies only to that Wi-Fi network. On other networks the iPhone uses its normal DNS.

Undoing it

Settings › Wi-Fi › (i) › Configure DNS › Automatic. Do this before turning the guardian PC off for a long time, or the iPhone will be left without DNS at home.
